Handmade Children's Toys & Educational Products
Last updated: October 2026
Thank you for supporting our small handmade business. Each product is individually handmade with care and attention to detail. Because our products are handmade, slight variations in stitching, fabric placement, colour and appearance may occur and are part of the character of a handmade product.
1. Handmade Products
All toys, educational products, busy books and sensory/play items are handmade using a combination of sewing by hand and sewing machine.
Materials used may include, but are not limited to:
- Felt
- Cotton fabrics
- Laces
- Ribbons
- Buttons
- Tulle
- Plastic mirrors
- Thread and other sewing materials
‐ Silicone and wooden beads
- Wooden rings
Every reasonable effort is made to ensure that products are carefully constructed and securely assembled before being supplied to the customer.
However, handmade products can experience normal wear and tear through use. Components may become loose, damaged or detached over time, particularly where a child pulls, chews, bites or repeatedly handles a component.
2. IMPORTANT – ADULT SUPERVISION
All children's toys and educational products must be used under the direct and continuous supervision of a responsible adult.
These products are not intended to be used by a child without adult supervision.
The supervising adult is responsible for determining whether a particular product is suitable for the individual child, taking into account the child's age, developmental stage, abilities and behaviour.
A child must never be left unattended while using these products.
3. SMALL PARTS AND CHOKING HAZARD
Some of our products contain or incorporate small, detachable or potentially detachable components, including buttons, ribbons, laces, flaps, decorative elements and other small pieces.
Busy books and educational toys may contain buttons and small loose or removable pieces.
These components may present a choking, swallowing, entanglement or other injury hazard, particularly to babies, toddlers and young children.
Products containing small parts must only be used with appropriate adult supervision.
The adult supervising the child must ensure that loose or detached pieces are immediately removed from the child's reach.
4. Inspection Before Every Use
The adult supervising the child must inspect the product before every use.
Please check carefully for:
- Loose or detached buttons
- Loose stitching
- Torn or damaged fabric
- Loose ribbons, laces or other components
- Damaged mirrors or plastic components
- Detached decorative pieces
- Any other damage or deterioration
Do not allow a child to use a product that is damaged, torn, loose or otherwise compromised.
If any component becomes loose or detached, discontinue use immediately and remove the product and/or loose component from the child's reach.
5. Appropriate Use
Our products are designed for their stated educational, sensory, developmental or play purposes.
They are not designed to be used as:
- Clothing
- Bedding
- Climbing equipment
- Restraints
- Chew toys
- Teething toys
- Food or feeding products
- Safety equipment
Unless specifically stated otherwise, our products are not intended to be placed in a child's mouth or used for chewing or teething.
Products should be used only for their intended purpose and in accordance with any age or safety information supplied with the product.
6. Age Suitability
Where an age recommendation is provided, it is intended as a guide based on the design and components of the particular product.
Age recommendations do not replace adult supervision or the responsibility of the parent, guardian or supervising adult to determine whether the product is appropriate for the individual child.
A child who is likely to chew, bite, pull apart or swallow small components may not be suitable for a particular product regardless of their age.
7. Care and Maintenance
To preserve the condition and safety of your handmade product:
- Follow the care instructions supplied with the product.
- Do not pull excessively on buttons, ribbons, laces, flaps or other attached components.
- Keep products away from excessive heat, flames and sharp objects.
- Do not modify, cut, remove or add components to the product without considering the resulting safety risks.
- Inspect the product regularly, particularly after washing or extensive use.
8. Handmade Variations
As our products are handmade, no two products will necessarily be completely identical.
Minor differences in:
- Fabric pattern placement
- Colour
- Stitching
- Embroidery
- Shape
- Size
- Decorative details
may occur and do not necessarily constitute a defect.
9. Product Safety and Liability
The safety of children is extremely important to us. We take reasonable care during the design, manufacture and inspection of our products.
However, children's products can carry inherent risks when used incorrectly, when subjected to excessive force or wear, when damaged, or when used without appropriate supervision.
By purchasing a product, the purchaser acknowledges that:
1. The product must be inspected before each use.
2. The product must only be used for its intended purpose.
3. Children must be directly supervised by a responsible adult.
4. Products containing small parts must be kept away from children who may place such parts in their mouths.
5. Damaged or compromised products must immediately be removed from use.
6. The parent, guardian or supervising adult is responsible for determining whether the product is suitable for the particular child.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any right, remedy, guarantee or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted under applicable South African law.
To the extent permitted by law, the business will not be responsible for harm resulting from misuse, abuse, modification, failure to follow safety instructions, failure to inspect the product, normal wear and tear, or failure to provide appropriate adult supervision.
10. Consumer Rights
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits the consumer's rights under applicable South African consumer-protection legislation.
In particular, these Terms & Conditions are subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, as amended, and any other applicable legislation and mandatory safety requirements.
11. Responsibility of the Purchaser / Supervising Adult
By purchasing a children's product, the purchaser acknowledges the importance of reading all product information and safety warnings before allowing a child to use the product.
The purchaser and/or supervising adult must exercise appropriate judgement regarding the child's age, developmental ability and behaviour and must provide continuous supervision.
12. Contact
If you have any concerns about the safety or condition of a product, please discontinue its use and contact us immediately.
We take product safety seriously and appreciate being informed of any issue involving one of our products.
